Mohan Yadav to take oath as Madhya Pradesh CM on this date; Jagdish Devda, Rajendra Shukla to be new Deputy CMs

Mohan Yadav had met Governor Mangubhai Patel and staked a claim to form the next government after he was declared as the BJP legislature party leader. He was accompanied by outgoing chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister-designate Mohan Yadav on Monday said the swearing-in ceremony of the new government will take place on December 13. Yadav was addressing reporters in the evening after he was chosen as the leader of the BJP's legislature party.

Yadav had met Governor Mangubhai Patel and staked a claim to form the next government after he was declared as the BJP legislature party leader.

He was accompanied by outgoing chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state party chief VD Sharma, and the three Central observers to the Raj Bhavan, a BJP spokesperson said. The governor invited Yadav to form a government in the state and handed over a letter pertaining to his appointment as the next chief minister.

The BJP retained power in MP in the November 17 assembly polls by winning 163 seats in the 230-member assembly, while the Congress finished a distant second with 66.

On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also selected Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla as the new Deputy Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh. The decision was taken in the Legislative party meeting conducted in Bhopal in the presence of the central observers Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, OBC Morcha head K Laxman, and secretary Asha Lakra.

In the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections, Jagdish Devda won the Malhargarh constituency by 59,024 votes by defeating Independent candidate Shyamlal Jokchand. Before the 2023 polls, Jagdish Devda won three consecutive elections from the Malhargarh constituency in 2008, 2013 and 2018.

Moreover, Rajendra Shukla won his first Assembly election in 2003 from Rewa by defeating Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Lekhan Singh Patel with a margin of 56,208 votes.
