Minor raped inside BJP office in Kolkata, one held

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly raping a five-year-old in Kolkata on Friday.

The accused allegedly committed the at the BJP's party office in South Kolkata.

According to the police, the accused is the son of a shop owner located next to this BJP's party office.

Meanwhile the BJP has condemned this incident. State BJP general secretary, Ritesh Tiwari said, "We condemn the incident. The guilty must be punished."

Later on Saturday, angry locals vandalised the party office.

State education minister Partha Chatterjee visited the rape victim at the Behala Vidyasagar Hospital. 

 “Such incidents have never happened in Behala in the past. I assure all sorts of help to the victim as well as her family,” Chatterjee said, adding, “Political affiliations of the accused does not matter, what is more alarming is that this heinous crime was carried out inside a party office.”
