 Acclaimed Indian artist, Maqbool Fida Husain's final nine paintings will be on display for the first time this summer, it has been revealed.

According to the BBC, Christie's auction, who is supporting the exhibition, said that Victoria and Albert museum in London will show the late artist's 'The Indian Civilisation' series from May 28 to July 27.

Husain, who was known as 'Picasso of India', had painted the series starting from 2008 until the days before his death in June 2011.

The paintings were commissioned by one of the richest Indian businessman Lakshmi Mittal's family, and eight of the works are triptychs and portray India's vibrant cities, historic events, Hindu festivals, and iconic figures, while the ninth one is a single painting of the Hindu god, Ganesha.
