Few seconds into narrating her ordeal the 20-year-old girl, allegedly gangraped in Haryana's Dinger Heri village, broke down. The girl was however not the only one to weep. Moments before she spoke, even her counsellor, a woman from the same area, overwhelmed by emotions had to stop her speech mid-way. "They told me that if I try to run, they will cut my child into pieces," said the 20-year-old-victim.

Two weeks after they were allegedly gangraped and had their relatives murdered in Haryana's Mewat region, victims of this sexual violence had traveled all the way from their home in Dinger Heri village to the National Capital requesting a CBI inquiry into the brutal incident, on Wednesday.

Accompanying the two girls, aged 16 and 20, were their relatives, members of Nuh's Bar Council, activist Shabnam Hashmi and Rajhya Sabha MP from Janata Dal (United) Anwar Ali, all of whom accused the arrested men of links with "right wing organisations" for unleashing the horror on the family. The group had brought with them print outs of facebook profiles of an individual (arrested in the case) who claims to have been working for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The victim's family and their associates now fear that the police might not "fight the case" owing to the political clout some of the 4-5 accused persons have.

The incident dates back to the intervening night of August 25 and 26 when about half a dozen people broke into the house of Ibrahim and his wife Rashidan. According to the victims, the accused brutally assaulted Ibrahim and his wife with iron rods and thick woods then dragged them around 100 meters to the nearby one room –house where Ibrahim's sister and her two daughters were living. Police documents quote one of the victims stating that the accused then entered the room of Ibrahim's sister where she was sleeping with her husband Zafeer and another room in which the couple's minor daughter and her married cousin (20) had already been woken up by the noise from outside.

"Four to five men came into our room and one of then and grabbed me and took away my dupatta. He used the same to tie the men outside and once he was done with that the men took turns to rape us," the statement to the police reads.

Deceased Rashidun sister Zubaida while speaking to dna said, "I gave my sister the last shower. They had split open her head, her ear of cut-off and she had injury marks all over her body." Ibrahim's brother said that while some of the accused men have been arrested there are many who are absconding. On top of this political leaders have been coming to the village temple and saying that they will help in releasing those arrested." The same concern was shown by activist Shabnam Hashmi who was accompanying the victims. "It is not ideal to bring the victims all the way to Delhi but we fear that if this matter is not highlighted they (victims) will not get justice. The RSS had organised a camp 7-8 months ago in the same area and accused named Rahul Verma had even shared on their social media profiles that they started working for RSS," said Shabnam. Another accused named and Rao Amajeet had shared a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a caption "Muslim toh gaye". Among other arrested are Sandeep and Karamjeet all of whom are residents of neighbouring Mohammadpur village.

MP Anwar Ali while speaking to dna said, "Some police officials in Haryana would like this case to be swept under the carpet due to the pressure they face from political bosses at the Centre as well as the state. The advocated representing the victims and some other members of the bar council made similar accusations.

"The intention of the police is not clear and this is evident from the way the case has been handled. Even when there were two bodies lying in the house, police did not include section 302 (for murder) and neither did they charged the accused under 307(attempt to murder) even when all the members of the family were grievously injured including children," said Ramzan Chaudhary.
