Meerut: Mother and son killed by relatives, crime caught in CCTV

Even as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth is desperately trying to contain crime situation, a double murder of a son and his mother in broad daylight in Meerut district rocked the state on Wednesday.

The shocking murder was reported from Sorkha village under Partapur Police station in Meerut district. After killing her son in the car, three assailants fired ten rounds at the mother outside their house in Sorkha village killing . The incident of the gruesome murder was caught on the CCTV camera installed outside the house.

The 65-year-old woman, identified as Nischar Kaur ,was an eyewitness to her husband’s Narender’s murder in 2016 by her own relative. She was to appear for the hearing in the case on Friday to record her statement as eye-witness in the case. The murderers had warned her not to appear in the case or else she would be eliminated.

On Wednesday afternoon, three of Kaur's relatives first shot her son in the car and then fired indiscriminately at her when she was lying on a charpoy outside her house. As many as ten bullets were fired in less than a minute by the three assailants killing the woman on the spot.

The heart-wrenching video, which went viral on the social media, shows how ruthlessly the three assailants shot her dead. The video also shows that they, however, spared a woman relatives of the deceased, who was lying next to her in another charpoy, while firing indiscriminately at the victim.

“We have identified assailants from the CCTV footage. They are her bother and nephew. Raids are being conducted at their possible hide-outs. They will be arrested soon,” said ADG Prashant Kumar. “We have detained a few persons in connection with the double murder. The woman and her son never complained about life threats or they would have been given police protection,” said SSP Meerut Manzil Saini.

 Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had summoned top police officials including ADG Law and Order Anand Kumar on Tuesday and had warned them of sudden spurt in crime. He was particularly annoyed at three robberies and two murder in four days in rural areas of state capital Lucknow.

The Chief Minister had also given special directions to the new DGP O.P. Singh who joined only on Tuesday to control crime at any cost. The Vice-President M Venkaih Naidu had also touched the law and order issue on Wednesday while inaugurating UP Diwas in Lucknow. The Vice-President even went to the extent of suggesting to the UP Chief Minister of cancelling arms licenses as they are the biggest cause of rising crime in the state.
