Mamata Banerjee to inaugurate farmer festival in Burdwan

 West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would be travelling to Burdwan district today to inaugurate the Mati Utsav, an initiative started by her government in 2013, and organized by the state government.

 West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would be travelling to Burdwan district today to inaugurate the Mati Utsav, an initiative started by her government in 2013, and organized by the state government.

As part of the festivities, provisions have been made for farmers to exhibit their products. This year, 104 stalls have been put up at the venue to display agricultural products, cooperative, food processing, fisheries and rural development.

Agricultural equipment would also be put on exhibition and farmers would also be able to discuss their farm-related problems with experts. The event would continue till January 8. Folk artists would also perform at the inauguration programme.

Along with Mamata, state ministers Ashish Banerjee and Sapan Debnath are scheduled to be present at the event. After inaugurating the programme, Mamata will leave for Bolpur in Birbhum district. After spending the night there she would attend a programme in Sainthia on Wednesday where she is scheduled to address a public meeting.
