Following a strong protest by the RTI activists, Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday directed the administration to withdraw a notification excluding the Anti-Corruption Bureau from the purview of the Right To Information Act.
The controversial notification had been issued by the erstwhile Prithviraj Chavan-led government on September 6. The Governor took the decision to scrap the notification after several RTI activists protested the same, and newspaper articles said that the notification violated the RTI Act, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said this evening. The Governor also consulted the legal experts before taking the decision, the spokesperson added.
