The state government in Madhya Pradesh is coming up with 300 "smart gaushalas" in the state and has signed a contract with a foreign company for the construction and development of these cow shelters.
Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's government was in news for planning a national park for stray cows, now its the turn of the current government lead by Chief Minister Kamal Nath to show its concern over the stray cows. The state government in Madhya Pradesh is coming up with 300 "smart gaushalas" in the state and has signed a contract with a foreign company for the construction and development of these cow shelters.
One of the major purpose of the cow shelter will be to export the cow dung and urine. The deadline for completing the gaushala project the two and half years.
"An international company has proposed to invest in this project. They will be investing approximately Rs 11 crores in constructing one gaushala and they are aiming to build at least 60 gaushalas in the state within one year," said Lakhan Singh Yadav, the state's Minister of Animal Husbandry and Pisciculture.
Minister Lakhan Singh added that Chief Minister said the stray cow are found wandering on national highways, which can pose a threat to the lives of motorists and cows. Chief Minister Nath wanted a wanted a cow shelter that not only helps rehabilitation of cows but also promotes private sector to invest in it.
Building gaushalas in every panchayat of Madhya Pradesh figured prominently in the Congress party manifesto for the state assembly elections that were held in November last year. Critics called the promise an attempt by the party to portray a 'soft Hindu' face.
Meanwhile, the former BJP minister Vishwas Sarang says this move of Kamal Nath government is for the benefit of his friends. Sarang said the government should first focus on the existing gaushalas than spending crores in constructing a new one.
