Political leaders on Thursday said that the law will take its own course in the case filed by a Bangalore based model-turned-actress against Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik Gowda.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, " Law will take its own course. What is the point of me saying anything when I don't know the details."

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said the guilty should be punished only after checking the merits and demerits of the case.

Speaking to ANI Nalin Kohli said , "Whatever are the merits and demerits and the facts they should come out and whosoever is guilty has to be punished, there is no question about it. But at the same time we must be careful before we extend these kind of allegations and matters to other members of the family. That might be a little premature till something is established."

Nationalist Congress Party leader, Tariq Anwar told ANI, "The law will take its course based on the allegations leveled by the model. If it is indeed true then it is a cause of concern and law is equal for everyone."

On Wednesday, a Bangalore model had filed a case against Karthik Gowda, son of Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda, under section 420, 376 and 406 (charges relating to cheating and dishonesty) of the Indian Penal Code.

The model claims that she got married to Karthik Gowda on June 5, 2014 after meeting him on May 8, 2014. She also said that she wanted his family to accept her as their daughter-in-law.

Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda rejected the allegations, saying, "Shocked to see this report, it hurt me, my personal and public life is an open book."

He also said that since the news came right after his son Karthik Gowda's engagement, and added that it was suspicious. "Suddenly after engagement, if a girl claims such things it leads to suspicion," said Sadananda Gowda

Gowda also said that he was looking into the matter and will give a briefing after knowing the truth.
