A youth, who was among the 17 missing persons from here and suspected to have joined terror outfit ISIS, has been reportedly killed, police said. According to media reports, the person was killed in a drone strike at Nangarhar in Afghanistan on Sunday night.

One of Hafeesuddin TK's relatives had received a Telegram message saying that he had become "shaheed" (martyr), a senior police officer told PTI here. But, there was no official confirmation in this regard, he said. According to media reports, the message was sent by one of Hafeesuddin's fellow jihadi. He also has been buried reportedly.

Just after getting married, Hafeesuddin joined the terrorist group ISIS. Hafeesuddin's parents and wife severed ties with him when the Kasargod native joined ISIS. His wife went back to Saudi Arabia shortly after that.

NIA has been probing the case of 21 youngsters who had left the state under mysterious circumstances over a period of time and suspected to have joined ISIS. Among them, 17 were from Kasaragod and four from Palakkad. They include four women and three children.
