Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty was today appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

Governor Droupadi Murmu administered the oath at the Raj Bhavan here.

He was the Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

The Chief Justice, who was born on June 10, 1955, at Cuttack, comes from a renowned family of eminent jurists.

His father, late Justice Jugal Kishore Mohanty was a judge of the Orissa High Court.

He had later become the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court.

Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty's maternal grandfather, late Justice Rajkishore Das was also a judge of Orissa High Court.

Justice Mohanty did his schooling from Ravenshaw Collegiate School, Cuttack and had graduated from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack.

He got his degree in law (LLB) from M S Law College, Cuttack.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das, his Cabinet colleagues and several dignitaries were present on the occasion.
