Also, a Government Railway Police (GRP) team was hot on his trail for a week before finally nabbing him.

Police said Rakh would not remain in the same location for long after a reward of Rs 2 lakh was announced for anyone who would provide credible information about him. The police also released a sketch of the accused based on Junaid's brother's account was flashed by the police.

Sources also said that the police also brought a relative of the accused to Sakri, who then helped them zero in on Rakh, said a source.

The police said Rakh confessed to stabbing Junaid during interrogation.

"We provided local assistance to the Haryana police team to detain the main accused in the lynching case. We have handed him (Rakh) over to the Haryana police after making a note of the incident in our diary," said Ramkumar, Superintendent of Police, Dhule

The police had earlier arrested five persons, including a Delhi government employee, in connection with the killing of Junaid.
