A tall, lanky Pakistani terrorist has become the new face of savagery in the valley and has earned the nickname 'Jihadi John' of Kashmir.

Sources identified the terrorist as Badshah alias Maaz, a Pakistani terrorist who has been active in the valley for the last one-and-a-half years.

Wearing a black-coloured, checked Kashmiri pheran (long woollen cloak worn during winters) with his face and head covered with a black hood, Maaz has released a 43 second video flashing a blood-soaked knife which was used to kill 19-year-old baker, Huzaif Ashraf.

"Anyone who will work against Mujahedeen will meet the same fate," said the terrorist after killing Huzaif, as his body lay on the ground.

There are three other terrorists seen in the video, who are masked and are raising a slogan saying, 'Takbeer'. Sources said Maaz was also a part of the group that attacked a police escort of an officer that left four cops dead on August 29.

The video of slaughter has been released on social media platforms and circulated on the WhatsApp groups evoking sharp reactions from Jammu and Kashmir police.

"Those involved in such terror crimes, of running it in (the) cyber domain at the behest of terrorist organisations are being identified and shall be brought before (the) law, besides the culprits involved in carrying out such brutal killings of innocent persons," said SP Pani, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone.

It was for the first time in 28 years of turmoil that terrorists filmed the killing of a civilian and posted it on social media, creating a furore in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, terrorists filmed the shooting of a Class XI student, Nadeem Manzoor, and released it on social media.

"If anyone wanted to know how Azadi would look like in Kashmir, here's the sample how it would shape up for us... We will be at the mercy of Pakistani knifers..!!" tweeted Imtiyaz Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla.

A massive manhunt has been launched by security forces to nab the terrorists responsible for the killings. On the other side, families of the two youth are trying to come to terms with the murders.

"Was reading some of the comments on my tweet about the brutal killings of two teenagers. What a shame — white-collared people, some in Dubai, some overseas- all careerists so unmoved by violence. As long as it doesn't visit their home they are ok with any brutality," tweeted Sajad Lone, former separatist leader-turned-MLA, who heads the Peoples Conference.
