Some opposition lawmakers allegedly disrespected the national anthem on Monday by not standing to attention and continuing with sloganeering while it was being played in the Central Hall of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on the opening day of the budget session in Jammu.

BJP which is the ruling alliance partner of the PDP, was quick to demand apology from the opposition parties for insulting the National Anthem.

"This is very shameful that the leaders of Congress and NC disrespected the National Anthem soon after the governor's address concluded. Even knowing that the National Anthem was being played they continued with protests.

Being an Indian I am pained and seek apology from NC, Congress and even the governor who did not bother to stood up there when National Anthem was being played", said Ravinder Raina, BJP MLA from Nowhsera constituency.

"Most of senior MLAs of NC, Congress and other parties were in attention. Nobody meant any disrespect to the anthem", said Nawang Rigzin Jora, Congress Legislature Party, leader.

These events have laid the seeds of uncertainties of present times in the State", said Mehbooba while speaking on the Obituary Reference in the Legislative Assembly,
