On Friday, leaders mainly from TMC and Congress protested against Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's hate speech in front of the Parliament. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was also present, wearing a black cloth tied around his mouth, along with others protesting against the union minister's comments.

Ironically, also gracing the occasion was TMC MP Tapas Pal, who was himself in the middle of a controversy not so long ago for launching into a vitriolic hate speech against his political rivals.

TMC MP Tapas Pal also protested outside the Parliament against Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's comments.

According to reports, when asked about why he was present in the protest rally, Tapas Pal said that the case against him is sub-judice and hence he couldn't say anything about it in the Parliament. According to the actor turned politician, he has already apologised to his leader and the people of India. Hence the matter shouldn't be broached further. Pal also said that the provocation that led to a person hailing from a 'decent and respected family' to his lose his cool should also be kept in mind. Explaining his presence, Pal said that he was there as instructed by his party chief Mamata Banerjee. Tapas Pal admonished Sadhvi by saying that it is unbecoming of a Union Minister to utter such words.

It may be recalled that Tapas Pal was caught on camera threatening to kill CPI (M) workers and unleash his 'boys' to rape their women. After a massive outrage, the actor apologised, though currently a case is pending against him in the Calcutta High Court.
