Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ceasefire violations, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that onslaught started a day after the Prime Minister assured the country that things were back to normalcy. He also attacked Modi over incursions on the India-China border, alleging that the Prime Minister did not raise the issue with the Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"During Lok Sabha campaign, Modi had said that Pakistan and China will be scared, if he becomes the Prime Minister. See what is happening. Firing is taking place on the borders and people are dying. Some days back, he said that things will become normal. Yesterday, he said it has stopped. Today it has again started," Gandhi said at an election rally here.

On the Chinese incursions, he said the Prime Minister did not raise the issue with the Chinese President during his visit here. "Our Prime Minister was enjoying the swing ride with the Chinese President, but he (Modi) did not raise the issue with him. During the Chinese President's visit, the incursions were on," he said.

Recalling Modi's recent visit to the US, Gandhi alleged that the prices of 108 essential medicines had gone up and the developments in the pharmaceutical sector has benefited America, while hitting the poor in India hard. "The UPA government had kept the prices of medicine under control. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to the US, the industrialists asked him to open up the price restriction.

"Now, medicines for diseases like cancer, diabetes and blood pressure have increased. The move has not affected the Prime Minister, but has hurt the poor man in India," he said.Rahul also attacked the Centre for allegedly trying to weaken and do away with the flagship schemes of the UPA government.

Addressing a rally at Sirsa, considered a stronghold of former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala and his INLD, barely hours after Modi addressed a BJP rally here, Gandhi told the people, "Land Acquistion Act is being done away with, MGNREGA is being done away with, you are going to suffer." He said that under MGNREGA, the highest wage of Rs 236 is given to labourers in Haryana, "though...during the past few months, the Modi government is not giving funds." Gandhi also said that the NDA government had failed to do anything on the black money issue despite making promises during poll campaigns.

"Hundred days are over, did we get this black money back..they just made promises, won the polls and then nothing happens," he said. Attacking rival parties INLD, SAD and BJP, he said while Congress government in Haryana channelised energy of its youths in positive direction, entirely opposite was happening in SAD-BJP ruled Punjab.

"What is their government in Punjab doing? Ask any youth about drugs. Entire generation has fallen prey to drugs. Then they (SAD, INLD and BJP) come here and say, form our government here. They (Akalis) are in alliance with BJP there (in Punjab), where entire generation has fallen prey to drugs and then they seek votes from you," he said.

Congress leaders, including party general secretary Shakeel Ahmed, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state party chief Ashok Tanwar, chief of Punjab party unit Pratap Singh Bajwa, were present on the occasion
