BJP's Gurgaon candidate Rao Inderjeet Singh Wednesday complained to the EC about violation of the model code of conduct and sought action in the matter.

"Officials of the Haryana government called meetings and directed district officers to distribute subsidised rice and wheat to the people and reach out to as many people as possible," he said.

He added that officers have also been directed to distribute money (pension) to widows and senior citizens in the district.

He said distributing foodgrains and pension and involving the government machinery violated the model code of conduct.

"This violation is happening in Mewat, Gurgaon and Rewari districts. If it is taking place in these three districts, it is probably occurring in all nine assembly segments. The state machinery under the Congress government is also canvassing in these districts for the Congress candidate Rao Dharampal," Rao Inderjeet said in his complaint.

"I would like to request you to take appropriate action in the matter," he added.
