Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that development of the country, especially the weaker sections, and ensuring nation's unity and integrity are the priorities of Congress.

Addressing an election meeting in support of Congress candidate Naresh Kumar in Nangloi area of Mundka Assembly Constituency today, Hooda said that the leaders of the Congress party have made great sacrifices for the country and cited examples of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

Hooda said that despite large increase in the population, Delhi has seen fast development. "Delhi is the capital of the country and presents the picture of Mini India. People from all parts of the country come to Delhi. During last 15 years the population of Delhi has more than doubled.

"The Congress government in Delhi has faced and solved the problems of water, power, transport and pollution and done the development of Delhi in a planned manner," he said.

Critising the BJP, he said, it has no policy of development. "BJP only wants to mislead the people in the name of Ram and grab power. BJP says that if it comes to power, it will reduce the rates of CNG, petrol and diesel," Hooda said, adding that in Gujarat the BJP Government is in power for the last 11 years but did not reduce the rates there.

He said the rates of CNG, diesel and petrol in Gujarat are Rs 66, Rs 58 and Rs 75, whereas in Delhi the rates are Rs 45, Rs 53 and Rs 71. The old age pension in Gujarat is Rs 400, whereas in Delhi it is nearly the double.
