Gurdaspur attack: Train services resume on Amritsar-Pathankot line

Train services on the Amritsar-Pathankot line, where five live bombs were found, have been resumed on Tuesday after thorough examination of the track.

The bombs, which were found by an alert trackman, were defused by the Army after a four-hour effort last night.

After thoroughly examining the rail tracks, the services on the line were resumed this morning. Train services were disrupted after the bombs were recovered from the tracks, Divisional Railway manager of Firozpur division of Northern Railways, Anuj Prakash said. Army sources said the bombs were made of unmarked RDX.

The bombs were defused and on trial basis an engine was plied on the track last night, Prakash said, adding, a train was also plied on the line from Pathankot to Amritsar today around 5 AM.

After the train's successful run, the services were resumed completely on it, he said. Railway security forces and employees were alerted and gangmen asked to patrol the line, the DRM said.

The five live bombs were carefully wired to the railway tracks at a small bridge near Parmanand railway station, five km from Dinanagar, the scene of yesterday's terror attack, in which seven persons including a Superintendent of Police were killed.
