Flight operations back at Shimla airport after nearly 4 years

Air connectivity to Shimla on Thursday resumed after nearly four years with Shimla-Dharamsala flight taking off from Jubbar Hatti airport, 20km from here.

Himachal Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma was among the passengers of the nine-seater aircraft operated by Air Himalayas for the flight from Shimla to Gaggal (Kangra).

Boarding the flight, Sharma said that the flight would provide good air connectivity in the state besides boosting tourism especially, catering to high-end tourists.

"Efforts are on to start scheduled flights in near future in the state and the state government is pursuing the matter consistently to facilitate tourists", he added.

He appreciated the efforts of Air Himalayas to start the flights and added that HIMUDA was constructing satellite township near Jubbar Hatti airport which would beautify the surrounding area and the airport road would also be widened.

Sharma said that the nine-seater aircraft would operate minimum six flights per day in the state between Shimla-Dharamshala-Shimla, Dharamshala-Shimla-Chandigarh and Chandigarh-Kullu.
