Fire broke out at Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao's controversial 'Ayutha Maha Chandi Yagam' ritual on Sunday, say media reports.

The fire broke out on the roof of the temporary pandal made of wood and hay.

Four fire tenders have been rushed to the spot and the fire has been brought under control. There have been no reports of any casualties so far.

The ritual is being performed at the Chief Minister's farmhouse in Erravelli village in Medak district. The five-day ritual is meant for 'Lok Kalyanam' (universal prosperity) and 'Vishwa Shanthi' (universal peace). About 4,000 priests and 1,500 Rutwiks are performing the rituals in the mega event.

Sunday is the last day of the ritual. The ritual, which reportedly cost Rs 7 crores and is being attended by many dignitaries including President Pranab Mukherjee, has been heavily criticised at a time when the agrarian crisis in Telangana is severe and farmer suicides a major issue.
