RK Pachauri may claim that his email, phone, from which hundreds of suggestive emails and messages was forwarded to his research associate is hacked. But the sexual harassment complaint she filed on February 13 which quotes several of these missives, tells a different story.

"Dearest Meri Jaan" begins one email, "My Life", begins another, while in an SMS, he promises to go on a fast after a cricket match on the next day to prove to her how much he loved her. The 75-year old Nobel Laureate, director general of The Energy Research Institute (TERI) and Chief of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change seems to have been besotted with his 29 year old colleague and ceaselessly propositioned her. In one case, October 1-2, 2013, there are seven, long SMSes between around 9.30 at night and 5 in the morning. The Research Associate on Friday expressed apprehension that Pacahuri may flee the country to avoid police arrest.

Besides her charges of sexual harassment against Pachauri, the, 29 year-old girl also wrote to Delhi Police to restraint him from going abroad as he is scheduled to leave for Kenya on Sunday (February 22) to take part in the United Nation Environmental Programme at Nairobi between February 24-27, 2015. The girl, who had joined the NGO (TERI) in September 2013 as research assistant, in her letter said " I fear that Dr R K Pachauri is planning to leave the country immediately and will escape the clutches of the law. I request you to kindly do the needful."

Advocate Prashant Mendiratta, her counsel told dna "The victim had received 100s of SMSes, Whats App messages and e-mails. She is ready to hand over the mobile and laptop details but she is extremely apprehensive that Pachauri will use his contacts and clout to destroy the data in it. The police should video-graph the evidence in the presence of some journalists or independent observers."

"The Delhi High Court has granted protection to him till February 23 and he is leaving for Kenya on Sunday. He has been holding offices in various countries and there is a chance that to avoid arrest he may not return," Mendiratta said.

The detail of the FIR, which the police registered on February 18, seemed to indicate that Pachauri fell in love with the girl but it seemed one sided. Even in several occasions, he forced himself on her despite her protests.

It is alleged that his conversation towards her was "expressively to have romantic and physical relationship" with her which later followed by lengthy emotional and "romantic" text messages and mails. Branding some messages as "vulgar and repulsive," she has claimed to have resisted repeatedly to his "obsession" towards her.

Despite our repeated attempts and SMS to Pachauri for reaction, no reply has come from him.
