In a dramatic turn in expelled AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP Sasikala Pushpa’s proposed marriage, a family court in Madurai has stayed her fiancé Dr Ramasamy, pro-vice chancellor of Oriental Institute of Science and Technology University, from marrying any woman as his previous marriage was “still valid”.

The Rajya Sabha MP and Ramasamy were supposed to marry at a five-star hotel in New Delhi on Monday morning. After their marriage invitation was widely circulated in the social media, T Sathyapriya, 34, along with a toddler, petitioned the Madurai district collector claiming that she was the wife of Ramasamy and sought the help of the district administration to stop his marriage with the RS MP as their marriage is still valid.

Sathyapriya also filed a Hindu Marriage Original Petition (HMOP) at Family Court in Madurai in which she had stated that she married Ramasamy on Dec 10, 2014, in the presence of both the family members at Padma Marriage Hall in Madurai. She alleged that he had married her saying that he was a judge. When she questioned her about his job, he started abusing her physically, she said, adding that he had even sexually abused her and in the meantime, she delivered a girl child on Dec 23, 2016.

However, Ramasamy’s counsel argued that during his client’s marriage with Sathyapriya, she had suppressed the fact that she was earlier married to another man Palanisamy, in 2012, who was also mentally affected.
