Expressing displeasure over lack of attendance of the party lawmakers in Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked them to ensure their presence in Parliament through the day.

Modi showed dissatisfaction over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs in a parliamentary party meeting that was held over the Presidential elections voting.

PM Modi reportedly told the BJP lawmakers that it was their responsibility to get the bills passed and not the opposition.

Underlining the importance for party legislators to ensure their presence, Modi told lawmakers that he will not tolerate their absence again, reported NDTV.

The Prime Minister expressed his concerns after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar and his junior Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi made references to incidents and problems arising out of lack of quorum.

Modi reportedly said that he was 'worried and not satisfied' with the members' percentage of presence in houses.

The Prime Minister also took the occasion to discuss the celebration plans of the 70th Independence Day.

"Our Prime Minister said that this year there will be nationwide celebrations from starting from August 9 till August 15. After which for 15 days a sankalp yatra will be conducted throughout the nation, pledging development of nation and every individual,? Parliamentary Affair Minister Ananth Kumar told Media.

"PM also stated that from 1947 till now India reached new heights but till 2022 India will become a power to reckon with in the world," he added.
