Delhi University failed a large number of its law students saying that they did not appear for the exam, the Hindustan Times reported.

The report stated that the detailed marksheet for each subject was released recently and 60 students were marked absent and hence declared as failed. The list includes both second year and final year students.

Now, the final year students are worried as they will lose a year because of this error. While a large number of students visited DU's examination department on Thursday asking for a solution, they were told to wait for another 15 days until the matter is looked into, the daily reported.

One of the students, Tarun Narang, who was marked failed told HT, "We had given the examination and now have been marked absent in the Evidence Law paper. When we have taken the examination how can we be marked absent. Now the examination department is asking us to bring the attendance sheet, how will students access it?”

The incident is similar to one that took place last month where a large number of off-campus Sociology students had been failed and only after they staged a protest outside the dean's office did the administration ask the examination department to re-evaluate their papers for free.
