To date, you must have heard of fake milk, fake mawa, fake ghee-oil, and fake spices being made in factories. But have you ever heard of fake medicine being made? Today we will disclose how fake medicines are being manufactured and suppllied in the words of a dealer of fake medicines. These fake medicines are being made in a small room and then they are being sold in the packing of big branded companies.

Una, a city in Himachal Pradesh is known as the manufacturing hub of fake medicines in the world of fake medicine business. Posing as a drug dealer, we met fake medicine dealer Balram Singh Chauhan in a hotel in Una.

Counterfeit medicine dealer Balram Singh agreed to give us fake medicines from every branded company. When the matter progressed, we asked how much time it took to get the fake medicines after placing the order and how much margin will you get in your business?

Balram Singh Chauhan said, "What is there in this is that if you get someone copied, then what you want will be copied as per your request, because you will not be able to run it on our request. So you say that I want this company, I told you its system. Give and you will get something in a month."

"Look at the margin… Montelukast used to be sold… it had a huge margin, there was a box of 100 tablets worth Rs 3600, see. What a big HiFi company it is and it used to be Rs 3600, we used to give it to them at 50%," he further said.

He also said that he is manufacturing Narcotic medicines of Multinational Companies like Sun Pharma in his factory of fake medicines and is sending from North-East India to Myanmar.

Balram Singh Chauhan openly gave us complete knowledge of the fake medicine business and guaranteed that no one can catch the fake medicines made by him.

As we are worried about your health, that is why, before showing you our investigation report, we had sought answers from Sun Pharma, whose fake medicines were being made, the Drug Controller General of India (DGCI) of the Government of India, and the Drug controller of Himachal Pradesh on fake medicines.

India's multinational drug manufacturing company Sun Pharma replied to us through email that - "Counterfeit medicines are a major challenge to patient health and safety in India and Sun Pharma has its own Enforcement Team that works with local FDA and police to prevent its counterfeit medicines from entering the market."

However, Sun Pharma did not answer the question of whether the company was aware of the fake medicines being manufactured in Una, a small town in Himachal Pradesh.

Similarly, the DGCI refused to give any answer during the phone call conversation.

When we asked for the reaction of State Drug Controller Navneet Marwah on the revelation of a fake medicines factory in Himachal Pradesh, he also refused to answer. However, he stated that the government has a Zero Tolerance Policy against the trade of counterfeit medicines in Himachal Pradesh. If any case comes to light then strictest action will be taken.
