Diwali 2016: Here are the muhurat timings for Laxmi Puja this year

Diwali is one of the biggest festivals in India. There are several legends behind the festival and it is celebrated in different ways in different parts of the country. But one thing that remains common is the Laxmi Puja. 

At business houses, puja is done of the new ledgers; while at homes, the puja includes worshipping the Laxmi idol and jewellery in the house to welcome prosperity and stability.

There are specific muhurats to be followed to do the puja which occur on different times on the day of Diwali.  

Pradosh Kaal Muhurat

Lakshmi Puja Muhurat = 6:27 pm to 8:09 pm
Duration = 1 Hour 42 mins
Pradosh Kaal = 5:33 pm to 8:09 pm
Vrishabha Kaal = 6:27 pm to 8:22 pm

Mahanishita Kaal Muhurat

Starts at the night of October 30
Mahanishita Kaal = 11:38 pm to 00:30 am
Simha Kaal = 00:57 am to 3:14 am

Choghadiya Puja Muhurat

Morning Muhurat (Labh, Amrit) = 7:58 am to 12:05 am
Afternoon Muhurat (Shubh) = 1:27 am - to 2:49 pm
Evening Muhurat (Shubh, Amrit, Char) = 5:33 pm - 10:27 pm

It is advised that businesses and households perform the Laxmi puja in Pradosh Kaal muhurat which is after sunset and supposed to be more fruitful than other muhurats.
