Diphu: Six militants nabbed, hideout unearthed after encounter

A hideout of the Karbi Liberation Peoples Force was unearthed and six militants were nabbed after an encounter with security forces in Karbi Anglong district of Assam, a police officer said on Monday.

A hideout of the Karbi Liberation Peoples Force was unearthed and six militants were nabbed after an encounter with security forces in Karbi Anglong district of Assam, a police officer said on Monday.

Police and 8 Jat regiment of the Army launched an operation at Jilangsu near Gandhipur last night when militants of the newly-formed outfit fired upon the security forces, District Superintendent of Police Mukdhajyoti Mahanta said.

The security men retaliated busting their hideout and nabbing the cadre and two linkmen, Mahanta said. The nabbed militants have been identified as Rakesh Ingti, Andres Teron, Biru Teron, John Teron, Babu Teron and Rupsingh Kro, he said.

The linkmen are Biren Ingti and Mohan Teron, the SP said. The recoveries include one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and three live ammunition, two .22 pistol with two magazines and 12 live ammunition, six UBGL grenades, 8 live rounds of AK series assault rifle ammunition, seven mobile phones, 30 SIM cards, two pen drives and KLPF letter pads.
