Delhi polls: 72 liquor shops in Ghaziabad closed frm 5-7th Feb

Seventy-two liquor shops adjacent to Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border will remain closed from 5th to 7th February as per the directions of Election Commission.

The Ghaziabad district administration has banned the sale of liquor and all types of psychotropic substances from vends falling within a territorial limit of 8 kilometers from Delhi as per the directions of Election Commission, additional Excise Commissioner D N Singh said.

Country made and foreign liquor shops, model shops, beer bars, pubs in the malls and five star hotels including hemp vends in Sahibabad will remain closed for 48 hours.

Singh said that stringent action will be initiated against any person, establishment and vend owners found contravening the order.

Delhi goes to polls on February 7th, with the counting of votes slated for February 10.
