In a decision, which will impact lakhs of students, CBSE has announced re-test for Maths Class X and Economics Class XII.

In a communique on Wednesday, CBSE announced the decision to again conduct the examinations.

CBSE in its circular said, "Board has taken cognizance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations as are being reported. With the view to uphold the sanctity of the Board Examinations and in the interest of the fairness to the students, the Board has decided to re-conduct the examinations in the following subjects (Class XII -- Economics and Class X Mathematics). Dates for fresh examinations and other details shall be hosted on the CBSE website within a week".

Although CBSE hasn't mentioned explicitly, it is understood that the board has decided to take re-exam after reports of alleged question paper leak.

Panic gripped students of class XII following claims on social media that the economics paper was leaked ahead of the exam even as CBSE denied there was any slip up. Reports of the question paper being leaked circulated through social media and WhatsApp several hours before the paper commenced . The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), however, denied any leak and urged students and parents not to panic

A similar incident occurred on March 15 when Delhi Government had said that it had received complaints of class 12 CBSE accountancy paper being leaked following which a probe was ordered, even as the board had denied any leak.

Over 16 lakh students sat for CBSE class X exams. The new dates for exams will be conveyed soon.
