Caught on Camera: Congress leader Manoj Mhatre killed in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi

A Congress leader from Bhiwandi in Maharashtra was shot dead by unknown assailants late on Tuesday night. 

Mhatre, leader of Congress party in the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation in the powerloom town was attacked with sharp weapons by the assailants and then fired at from point blank range. His murder was caught on Camera.

Mhatre was taken to Jupiter hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to injuries.

"We are investigating the incident and a case of murder will be registered at Narpoli police station," said Parag Manere, DCP, Thane Crime Branch

The motive behind the killing is yet to ascertained by the police.

Heavy police force was deployed to curb ​any ​untoward incident in the Bhiwandi-Nizampura region on Tuesday night.
