A video posted by a BJP party worker on social media has brought to the fore the alleged monetary transactions undertaken by BJP aspirants to file their nominations. BJP declared the final candidate list on Friday with only 122 names, crushing the hopes of a large number of aspirants who hoped to contest the elections.
This led to unrest within the party and allegations that those bribing were being given party nominations started circulating. On Saturday, a video went viral which shows a BJP office bearer asking for Rs 2 lakh. The other person, also an office bearer at the BJP office, is heard stating that everyone has to pay and that cheques will also be accepted. The video does not clarify the reason for the money or when the video was shot.
It is said to have been taken by a candidate who was seeking party nomination but was asked to pay again. Many party members stood by the office bearers, saying that the party image is being maligned, while others stated that loyal party activists are being neglected.
