BJP claims to have registered 8 lakh members in J&K

BJP on Sunday claimed that it has registered over eight lakh members in Jammu and Kashmir and hoped to achieve the target of 11 lakh memberships in the state.

BJP on Sunday claimed that it has registered over eight lakh members in Jammu and Kashmir and hoped to achieve the target of 11 lakh memberships in the state.

"I feel happy to inform you that BJP till today has registered over eight lakh members in Jammu and Kashmir and our target is of 11 Lakh members that will be achieved within next few days," BJP state general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul said here today.

Koul said that the numbers were not achieved overnight but it involved weeks of hard work of the dedicated workers of the party. Koul claimed that BJP has achieved the distinction of being a party with largest number of members in the world.

"Today ours is the political party which has reached to first position in the world with ten crore members," he said. While throwing light on the history of the party Ashok Koul said that BJP that was formed on April 6, 1980, has today became the world's largest political party with ten crore members within a period of 35 years.

"We have left behind Communist Party of China, which has eight crore members", Koul said and added that the credit for this success goes to every activists of the party, "who has been devoting time and reaching the masses with the programmes and policies of the party with a motive to mobilize their support for party" he said.
