Bhima Koregaon violence | After Jignesh Mevani and Umar Khalid, Kabir Kala Manch members booked for provocative speeches

Days after the violence in Bhima Koregaon that brought parts of Maharashtra to a grinding halt, the Pune Police has booked members of Kabir Kala Manch for allegedly making provocative speeches at the 'Elgar Parishad'.

Days after the violence in Bhima Koregaon that brought parts of Maharashtra to a grinding halt, the Pune Police has booked members of Kabir Kala Manch for allegedly making provocative speeches at the 'Elgar Parishad'.

The case against the Kabir Kala Manch comes after the Pune Police also registered cases against Jignesh Mevani and Umar Khalid for allegedly making provocative speeches at the same December 31st event.

Controversies are not new to the Manch. On earlier occassions also, the members of the Kabir Kala Manch have faced police action for allegedly having Naxal connections. Now, following the clashes between two communities at Bhima Koregaon on January 1st, the police have booked six members identified as Sudhir Dhavale, Sagar Gorkhe, Harshali Potdar, Ramesh Gaychor, Deepak Dengle and Jyoti Jagtap for their alleged provocative performance at 'Elgar Parishad' oragnised at Shaniwarwada to mark the 200 years of Bhima Koregaon battle.

The case was registered in Vishrambaug police station after a complaint application was submitted to police by one Tushar Damgude. The complainant in his complaint has alleged that the provocative and inflammatory performance of the members of the group led to violence at Bhima Koregaon in which one person was killed.

When contacted senior police inspector Appasaheb Shewale of Vishrambaug police station said, "We have registered the case against six persons of Kabir Kala Manch for spreading disharmony and enmity between communities."
