Arrested JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who was beaten up by an unruly mob at the Patiala House Court on Wednesday, received injuries on his legs and face. Even though the nature of the injuries seems to be minor, the fresh revelation puts the Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi in the dock yet again, as after the attack he had claimed that Kanhaiya was not attacked but only jostled.

According to the medical examination, Kanhaiya had received multiple injuries on his feet and abrasions on his nose. The medical examination conducted by a team of doctors of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital states that the 29-year-old student leader was physically assaulted by a group of unknown men at the Patiala Court.

The report mentions that the patient was oriented, conscious and sitting comfortably at the time of the examination with a pulse rate of 92 beats per minute and blood pressure of 110/70.

On Wednesday, Kanhaiya was assaulted by a mob made up of lawyers. The same set of lawyers had earlier on Monday beaten up JNU students and AISF cadre who were present at the court premises in support of their arrested leader. Journalists covering the proceedings too were beaten up twice in three days. On Wednesday, when Kanhaiya was assaulted, stones were also thrown at the media.

Kanhaiya was sent to 14-day judicial remand on Wednesday, amidst high drama at the court premises. Lawyers gathered on Wednesday attacked Kanhaiya and later demanded that the student leader be 'given to them'. According to eye-witness accounts, one of the lawyers who was addressing the crowd even went ahead and threatened to burn Kanhaiya alive.
