In a bid to ensure that no unfair means are used by students appearing for the prestigious JEE(Main) exams, CBSE has come out with a new plan. According to a HT report, the candidates have to pass through metal detectors which will be installed in exam halls. This is first time such a step has been taken by CBSE, which conducts the JEE(Main) exam for entrance to IITs and other top engineering colleges in the country.

In the past, electronic devices have been used by students to subvert the system and cheat in the exam. CBSE is trying to crackdown on such practices and hence it has come out with such stringent measure. JEE(Main) 2018 will be held on April 8.

Mobile phone, electronic watch and calculators have been banned inside the exam centre. However, this step is essentially to stop sophisticated bluetooth enable gadgets which have been used in the past to cheat in the exams.  Over 13 lakh students are slated to give the JEE-Mains exams. In the next round, they have to clear JEE (Advanced) to get chance in top engineering colleges of India.
