Andhra Pradesh: Phase 1 of capital city Amaravati to come up by 2019

On the completion of its development it will have the capacity to serve a population of 40 lakhs.

According to a report in the Hindu Business Line, the Core Capital Region of Andhra Pradesh's new capital city Amaravati will come up on the Krishma riverfront and will be of 16.9sq km area. It will be developed in Andhra's Guntur district.

S Iswaram, Singapore Trade and Commerce Minister and the visiting delegation showed the (seed) capital plan to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Rajahmundry on Monday.

The report says that the capital city's  phase one will done by by 2019. On the completion of its development it will have the capacity to serve a population of 40 lakh. It will be based on the smart city frame work and the planning will be as per Vaastu.

The core capital will host the State Secretariat, Legislative Assembly, Raj Bhavan, and will have key infrastructure for the capital city.

The capital will have a metro rail of network of 135 km which will pass through with transit-oriented development along its network and core areas. Phase one for the project is currently being finalised. There will buildings on the waterfront.

The Singapore Government has presented the seed capital plan before giving the capital region plan and capital master plan.

Andhra government has started land pooling and hopes to have a pooled base of 33,000 acres of land for the capital city development. The Capital Area Region Development Authority has been mandated to pool land for the capital city.
