As Narendra Modi ascends to power, speculations are flying as to who will form his Cabinet. There are a number of potential individuals who are being considered for a number of portfolios.

Other Ministers who are expected to be sworn in from Maharashta include names like Nitin Gadkari and Gopinath Munde, senior BJP leaders from Maharashtra as well as Piyush Goel.

This is amidst a relationship between the BJP and Shiv Sena that has been affected by the Shiv Sena’s initial opposition of the BJP’s invite sent to Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif for Narendra Modi’s swearing in ceremony.

However Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut was quoted as having said that Modi’s and Sharif’s meeting is important since both countries need a chance to find peace. Raut also stressed the importance of the Shiv Sena’s relationship with the BJP and the importance of their role in the NDA. "Our alliance was there for 25 years and we give a lot of importance to the relation. During good times also we will be with them and enjoy their happiness along with the entire country,” he said.

It was also confirmed that BJP President Uddhav Thackeray would attend Modi’s swearing in ceremony. This will serve to strengthen the ties between the two parties where the BJP asserts the importance of Narendra Modi’s onslaught in helping the Sena win its seats in Maharashtra.

However with Maharashtra being second only to Uttar Pradesh in electing BJP MPs, it remains to be seen how the ties between the two parties will benefit the populace who voted for them.
