3 new attractions at Kankaria lake

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) plans to add three new attractions at Kankaria lake. The civic body is preparing to set up a miniature golf course with tree walk, besides two amusement parks.

It has also added adventurous activities, such as scuba diving, target archery, mirror maze, sag-way and aqua-carting, during the annual Kankaria carnival to be held from December 25 to 31.

AMC aims to add new attractions at Kankaria every year. The bhoomipujan of two amusement parks and the miniature golf course will be carried out during the carnival. “We could not issue work orders due to the model code of conduct on account of assembly elections in the state. The infrastructure will be ready within six months of issuing work order,” said Guruprasad Mohapatra, municipal commissioner.

“Golf has been considered a sport for the rich, but an adventure, miniature golf course will give a chance to common people to try their hands at the sport,” said Asit Vora, mayor of Ahmedabad. One amusement park will be set up in Balvatika while the other will come up behind the picnic house. The park in Balvatika will have ring of fire, vertical swing, Black Flash, discovery, and other rides. The second park will house mega disc-o, roller coaster, flipping arm, tower ride and kids zone.

During the carnival, AMC plans to erect a big charity bag to collect donations, which will be distributed among the needy, the mayor added.
