3 more swine flu deaths in 48 hrs, toll reaches 327

Three more people died of swine flu in the last 48 hours in Maharashtra. While two new deaths were reported on Thursday, another death was reported on Friday,said Dr Pradip Awate, the state's epidemiologist. "The swine flu death toll has climbed to 327 in the state. We are recording a rise in the number of new cases in Mumbai and Thane," said Awate.

Mumbai has recorded a total of 250 cases of swine flu in civic-run government hospitals, and five deaths in July alone. Thane, too, is witnessing a similar spike in the number of new swine flu cases, according to government officials.
"There is no change in the advisory. Citizens should not ignore symptoms of fever, but seek immediate care," Dr Awate said.

Earlier, Dr Deepak Sawant, the state's health minister asked patients to see a doctor in case of high fever and not to self-medicate. Private doctors have also been asked to notify the number of new swine flu cases to the nearest civic hospital.
