Watch: The much awaited 'Star Wars:The Force Awakens' teaser trailer is finally out

Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer has finally been released so dedicated fans of the Star Wars franchise get a glimpse of what to expect. The events depicted in Star Wars take place in a fictional galaxy. Directed by JJ Abraham, the plot for the new film is set 30 years after after the defeat of the Empire and the demise of the most important character in the franchise, Darth Vader.  

Luke Skywalker an important figure in the Rebel Alliance's struggle against the Galactic Empire will be played by the original actor Mark Hamill. Fans will also be overjoyed to see Harrison Ford reprise his role as Han Solo, Lucas described the character s "a loner who realizes the importance of being part of a group and helping for the common good". 

In the teaser though, there is no sign of Ford but we do get to hear the signature theme music of the series.

Originally created by George Lucas, Star Wars is an American space opera franchise. It has become a world wide phenomenon since its debut in 1977. The film series, consisting of two trilogies has an extensive media franchise which includes books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books.

The cast of The Force Awakens includes John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow. The film is set to release December 18, 2015.
