TV host Trevor Noah has criticised Hollywood veteran Meryl Streep for the speech she delivered while accepting the Cecil B DeMille Award at the Golden Globes.

The 32-year-old The Daily Show host pointed out that the star, 67, was incorrect for mocking football and mixed martial arts in her address, reported Variety.

Discussing the actress' speech on his show, Noah said, "It was really great except for this one tiny part for me, where Meryl Streep, like her character in Florence Foster Jenkins, was tone-deaf."

But, Noah said that he would let the comment slide because he trusted the intention and purpose behind Steep's words.

However, he added, "You don't have to make your point by ... on someone else's thing, because a lot of people love football and the arts"

In her Golden Globes address, Streep had said, "Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if you kick 'em all out, you'll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts."
