Buxom babe Sameera Reddy has nothing but praises for item numbers. The sultry siren feels item numbers can help aspiring actresses make an easy entry into Bollywood. “Rickshaw-walas and lorry drivers are  always looking for item numbers and they will make such songs hits. They are a good way for young aspiring girls to get into filmdom,” she says.

Seeing how Sameera shot to fame with ‘Ishq Kabhi Kariyo Na’ and ‘Jo Dar Gaya’, aspiring actresses might want to pay heed  to her advice. After some item roles, Sameera is now headed for more serious cinema with Buddhadeb Das Gupta’s ‘The Voyeurs’ and Mira Nair’s ‘Migration’, a film on AIDS.

But Sameera has a word of caution to offer aspiring item girls. Don’t get taken in by promises made by B and C grade filmmakers, for they just might be out to exploit you. “The casting couch does exist, there is no denying it. I have just one thing to tell girls aspiring to be actresses. Nothing is worth selling your soul,” Sameera says.

She admits to have undergone unpleasant experiences in Bollywood. “If I deny having had any bad experiences, I would be lying. Every industry has its downside, and so does Bollywood. I have certainly had my share of bad experiences. But I have always managed to maintain my stand and command respect,” she signs off.
