There will be a special standalone episode of BBC's hit show 'Sherlock,' which will be shown in selected cinemas around the world.

While speaking at Comic-Con in San Diego, co-creator Steven Moffat announced the news addressing thousands of fans, that the Victorian England set TV show would also be seen "on the big screen," the BBC reported.

The new adventure is set in the same time frame as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories, and Moffat confessed that they faced a bit of a challenge in writing the episode while they tried to explore the different role played by Doyle's female characters.

He said that the women in the original Sherlock Holmes series don't speak very much, and had no Molly Hooper, a character they had invented.
