He shot for some grand sequences and battle scenes in the royal state of Rajasthan for Bajirao Mastani. Now, Ranveer Singh will return to the desert state for a long schedule of Padmavati. This film reunites him with his mentor and auteur Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a third time. For the second time, Bhansali has picked picturesque locales of Rajasthan to film crucial portions.

Ranveer will begin shooting on January 20/21 in Raisar, a location within the Jaipur district. Known for its visually impressive Havelis, arid but pristine locales and colourful cuisine, Raisar is a part of Rajasthan’s tourist destinations and often hosts both foreign and Indian visitors. Soaking in the sharp, fragrant flavours of Rajasthani food here, Ranveer looks forward to savouring it’s delicacies despite being on a strict regimen for his role of the villainous warrior conqueror Alauddin Khilji.

Rajasthan, with its vibrant culture and colourful handloom as well as handicrafts, holds a special place in Ranveer’s heart. He said, “While shooting for Bajirao Mastani, I got a chance to experience the lively, warm and pleasant hospitality of local people in Rajasthan. It’s a clean, organised, beautiful place that holds its culture in high esteem and has got a very welcoming vibe. A chance to shoot here for my mentor Sanjay Bhansali again brings back fond memories of the unique Bajirao Mastani shoot. We had such a great time here! In fact, Rajasthan will give me a chance to occasionally take a break from my grey character of Alauddin Khilji, and I plan to make the most of the food and shopping here.”

Ranveer plays Alauddin Khilji, a villainous warrior that lived in medieval India, in Padmavati.
