Multi-talented Shruti Seth opens up about her start in the film industry and how she feels about it today.

After completing her education in Economics, Seth got into the hospitality business. She later decided to pursue her passion in interior design and planned to model on the side. After being unable to balance both at the same time, she decided to focus on her acting career, where she has achieved success in both television and films.

Although Seth is grateful for the work she has received in the Bollywood , she does acknowledge it's downfalls when it comes to how women are treated. She says as long as they know you are dedicated,"I don't think they see beyond a pretty face".

Seth feels while there has been some breakthrough roles for women in film, it is not enough when compared to the variety of great scripts and roles in store for men. Seth also expresses her disappointment at regressive roles women have to play in TV shows. "For a woman, the moment she hits 30, there is just nothing for her to do," said Seth. Adding that as actor, she feels "terrible that one doesn't have the option to redeem yourself in this business", as women are forced to take "tacky projects".

Having experienced the entertainment industry, Seth feels there is too much pressure for actresses to constantly look good, as there is too much focus on vanity. Seth feels, this unhealthy obsession also sends the wrong message to young women who feel the need to compete and look like the stars.
