'Om Namah Shivaya' for Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt

Guess what’s common between actors and good friends Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt? Both the stars sport elaborate Shiva tattoos on their bodies, that’s what. Ajay has a Shiva tattooed on his chest, while Dutt has the image inked from his left shoulder to his upper arm, with Om Namah Shivaya written below it in Sanskrit. A source close to the two stars reveals that both are devout Shiva bhakts and the tattoos hold special significance for them. “Mahashivratri is much celebrated in the Devgn household and Ajay always tries to be home for the day. But this time around, he may have to miss the celebrations as he is in Wai shooting for Bol Bachchan,” says the source.

Talking about the tattoo, Ajay reveals that it was during the shoot of his film All the Best that he got it done. “It was on Sanjay’s insistence that I decided to get the Shiva tattooed,” says Ajay, who had quite liked the tattoo that his friend sports on his arm. But while Sanjay’s tattoo represents the God in his Rudra (angry) avatar, the one that Ajay sports is in his calm form. The actor also has his daughter’s name Nysa inked right below it. “It signifies what Ajay truly believes in and what matters the most to him,” adds the insider.

About Sanjay’s tattoo, the insider says that the actor sports several of them and each has a special significance in the actor’s life. “From inking his parent’s name on his chest to Manyata’s name on his hand and from the elaborate Samurai tattoos that represent life’s struggle to the lion on his forearm, each one is special for him. But Shiva is especially important and special for him as the angry Shiva reflects the inner turmoil and overcoming evil and obstacles,” says the source.
