Marvel finally released the first trailer for Ant-Man. The film sees Paul Rudd play Scott Lang, a petty thief who ends up with superhuman strength and the ability to shrink thanks to technology developed by Dr Hank Pym.

Michael Douglas portrays Dr Hank Pym while Evangeline Lilly plays his daughter Hope Van Dyne. The film, directed by Peyton Reed, will explore the Lang as he attempts to turn his life around while fighting antagonist Yellowjacket, played by Corey Stoll of 'House of Cards' fame.

Ant-Man can shrink to the size of, well, an ant and while this could have made for an underwhelming story, the trailer manages to pack a punch and create anticipation for the latest superhero to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel's trademark tongue-in-cheek humour pairs well with the fast-paced action sequences. Is there anything Marvel can't make exciting? We'll have to watch the film to find out.

Watch the trailer:

Ant-Man opens on July 17, 2015 in the UK and the US.
