Maratha Mandir on Tuesday rubbished media reports that suggested the theatre would stop Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge's (DDLJ) record run at the theatre. The iconic 90's blockbuster starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, written and directed by Yash Raj Films' head Aditya Chopra, has been running in Maratha Mandir since its release in 1995.

On Tuesday several media reports suggested that the famed single screen theatre's executive director Manoj Desai may be looking to stop screening the film that has been running at the theatre for almost two decades.

Desai denied that there was any truth to these reports. He told dna,"I am deeply connected with DDLJ. It's like our child who was born in 1995, the child will soon be 20, can somebody disown their child?"

After the rumours spread, Desai said he got a call from Chopra and YRF's General Manager, Rajesh Malhotra. "We decided that we will run DDLJ for 1000 weeks more. We will still run the movie at the rates of Rs 15, 17, 20. Nobody shows any movie at these rates any more."

The film has been screened at the theatre as the morning show at 11:30 am for almost two decades and runs to packed houses to this day.

The film is set to complete 1000 weeks at the box office on December 12. "We are not running the shows to make profit,  it is because of our personal connect with it," Desai said.
