Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt led a protest today in Mumbai against the recent incident of Maharashtra Sadan where a Shiv Sena Member of Parliament (MP) forced a Muslim caterer to break his Ramzan fast.

Condemning the incident, Bhatt said that if there is no freedom in the nation then it will not progress, if humanity ends there is nothing which development can do.

"The most important thing which needs to be decided is that weather this nation will run on the rule of law or upon the wish of certain people. We are here to do our responsibility; we will stand against any kind of injustice to any religion," said Bhatt.

The protesters demanded enquiry into the matter and said that they should be treated equal to a common man.

Earlier today, a petition was filed against Shiv Sena MPs demanding cancellation of their membership and also investigation by special sitting judge of High Court.

Shiv Sena MPs had allegedly forced a Muslim catering supervisor to break his Ramzan fast at Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi.

The MPs were apparently angry over not being served good food.

The Maharashtra Sadan has apologised to the employee, even as the Shiv Sena has claimed that they were not aware of the employee's religion.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday had maintained that his party holds all religions with high respect and that there was no intention to hurt anyone's religious sentiments.
